Spurs vs Arsenal – stats and best bets – Thursday 12th May

Although the best bets in this write up are backed up by statistics they are not certainties and still could lose. I will use the statistics to point out likely events in these games, and the best bets are the types of bets that I believe stand a good chance of coming in. The best bets will vary in price as this is a case of taking what the stats give us, rather than trying to force bets for the sake of it. I will be as transparent as possible in each write up about why I feel each bet is best bet material. All bets are rated on a 1-3 points system of how strong we believe the chance of it happening is, with 3 being the strongest. This is just an indication of my confidence and should not be taken as advice on what amount to place on a bet, you should only bet what you can afford to lose.

This could be a crucial game in the battle for Champions League football next season. Spurs are 4 points behind Arsenal right now and come here after taking a point off Liverpool in their last league game. Spurs know that even a win here means they will still be relying on Arsenal dropping points in their 2 league games that remain, away at Newcastle and at home to Everton, but they would love to put the pressure on their London rivals. Arsenal know that a win here would guarantee them top 4 and Champions League football next season, but at the same time they are the ones who probably don’t need to win this game, as even a draw here would leave them needing just 1 win in their 2 remaining games to secure top 4. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Arsenal could even finish finish season in 3rd, as Chelsea have fallen off in recent weeks and are only 1 point ahead of Arsenal right now. Arsenal have won the last 2 meetings with Spurs, by 3-1 and 2-1 scorelines. However if you look at the last 6 head to heads, all in The Premier League it has seen 2 wins for each team and 2 draws, so it’s been a pretty even matched fixture in recent times. 6 of the last 7 head to head meetings in The Premier League have seen both teams score and 4 of the last 5 head to head meetings in the league have ended with over 2.5 goals, so the recent stats and form say we should expect an evenly matched, close game with a few goals. Spurs have to win, so I expect them to be aggressive in their approach, but I also think Arsenal will be desperate to win as they would love to secure top 4 against their local rivals and then set their sites in potentially claiming 3rd spot from Chelsea to finish as the top London Club in the Premier League. This should be a good game for bets all round. Goals look a very solid angle, corners and cards are also looking strong. I see it being even and feel we could see the game end in an entertaining 2-2 draw as Arsenal all but secure top 4.
