I am pleased I didn’t put anything up yesterday as I wouldn’t have had a good one! Horse I fancied to win coming second left right and centre and the two I mentioned I liked in the Betfair Hurdle, but swerved due to price, well beaten and I personally couldn’t have had the winner.
Sunday is different. I fancy a few who are overpriced. The weather is terrible at the moment and I am hoping it will bring a few upsets. Gladiateur Allen is one who looks overpriced for a number of reasons. He drops in class here significantly although this is a good Class 3 and on official ratings he isn’t clear. He has been running on quicker ground than maybe he wants though and the ground will be fine for him. Gustavian has flattered to deceive a few times now and is worth opposing and I like Midnight Rivers claims but at the prices GA looks a bet. If you can get it Coral are 3 places despite only 7 runners but for the purposes of the column it will be an EW bet.
In the 3.30 Eminent Poet is worth chancing off a huge lay off. He loves the mud and a test like this will be up his street. Venitias continue to run well and he is now 11 so you would have to say opportunities are limited so it’s likely he will be targeted for his races and be fit to run. He has ideal conditions too and has been lowered by the handicapper for his return so at 16/1 is worth a small win bet. Also with Venitia in the next race (she has 3) but Kapga De Lily is the one to be with back up in trip. She was a very progressive handicapper last season and continued in form too with wins at Ascot and Haydock. He was disappointing last time but that was over a shorter trip and with conditions fine here she looks a bet.
